Winter 1188:

My previous spell to detect intelligent plants, although usefull, is hampered greatly by the fact that it requires one to toch every plant you wish to test. I'm setting out this season to create an enhanced version of the spell that will let me hear their thoughts. hopefully this will allow me to search much quicker and make it feasable to find an intelligent plant.

My spell works, in fact it works all too well. As I went to test the spell on the massive tree that serves as the guardian to the faerie regio I heard the faint murmurs of his thoughts from far off. When I approached it got uncomfortably louder and louder untill I felt as if my ears would bleed, and I was forced to retreat before I suffered permanent damage. I fear that this spell is flawed to a point that makes it inpracticle to use. Durring the course of this research though I gained valuable insight towards my goal of extracting Vis from plants. I performed several experiments relating to the nature of magic in regards to how it can sustain a plants true intelligence indefinatly as opposed to mearly creating it temporaraly thru magic as we are used to.

Spring 1189:

Today we set forth into the regio to harvest the intelligo vis from the magical tree there. We also made two detours. One was to the , presumably magical, ivory gate to try our luck at discovering something about it's nature or history. Our meager intelligo magics found nothing out, though we came away with only the knowledge that walking tru it seems to do no harm. Our second detour was to hunt down a beast of this land, which is turning into a tradition. We found no boars like the previous two times, and thankfully no sign of the enourmous bear we ran into on our last trip. We did hunt down a pair of rabbits, and upon catching one discovered that it's remains contained a single pawn of Animal Vis. With a simple contest of luck it was determined that I would take the pawn of vis. We left the body of the rabbit in the desolate woods, a shame as it was a fine example of it's species. But considering our previous experiences with eating the animals from this strange land it was for the best. I am attempting to repeat my experiments from last season to prove the relationship between the magical power flowing thru some plants and it's intelligence. I am certain that my efforts will bear fruit, no pun intended, and that it will go along way towards proving my theorys.
